    Best home printer...

    Hi guys...
I get all my prints done by Ashtons but I was looking for a home printer that would do the odd picture that I didn't need a pro print of. Whats the best home Photo printer these days?
    cheers Lee

Well I can't say what the best is Lee but we use the Canon Pixma range at work. The iP8500 we have in my office is getting on a bit now so has probably been updated, but I've been quite satisfied with most of the prints I've had from it.

    Cool

what size of print A4, A3?
Do you need to print directly onto a white faced CD/DVD???
The Epson Photo R265 is OK for A4 and prints on DVD's - it is quite expensive on inks though! and I have yet to find a reliable source of good quality alternative inks.
The other thing to consider would be the type of photo paper that you want to use. They vary a lot in quality and price.

Both the HP & Epsons have good write ups. I use an Epson R2400 & am very pleased with it. But have just invested in a proper print profiler hardware & software thing so hoping to get even better prints out of it. Inks cost a fortune for any of them - but not a major issue, if like me, you're only doing the occasional print & not great volumes.

Hi... Sorry, A4. I don't need to print on anything except photo paper. The Epson R360 was recommended to me. I just wondered what everyone else thought.

i use the R285 ( i think it is) Epson. 6 individual inks at £3 a cartridge. It prints up to A4 and CD;s DVDs. Very impressed so far. I only use it for small prints for my self or proofs but print quality is excellent.

Hi...do you reckon you can work out the price per print? I'm trying to gauge the possible saving over pro printing.

possibly Lee yes although I must admit I still use pro for a4 size ish, and over.
You cn get the whole set of ink for just over £20. Ive only changed 1 ink from the originals that where in it so far and the rest are down to about 1/5th left.
I cant see it costing more than 10p for 8x6.
Even if you allowed £1 for A4 its pretty good?
Unfortunately I havent counted the number of prints but Im sure there must be a site out there that has these figures. It would mean running it down to zero and seeing how mnay prints you got ?

and you can get the carts for £3 each on line!!

Ok average reviews on some and great on others???
Like I said keep to pro for A4 and you cant go wrong.I use mone mainly for 6x4, 7x5 and 8x6 and its comparable but once you go bigger Ive found the colour match is a bit out!

    Will have a look!

    Cheers

    Andy
