No thanks, especially if it's one of the Princess line ships.

Before all this happened I wouldn't have gotten on one of those, so definitely not now.

Being a country boy, there's no way I would get on something that carries three city blocks worth of high rise buildings.

I once went on a Holland America cruise in the Caribbean. It was fabulous. I would go again in a heartbeat. The Covid-19 is a threat but we have faced other threats and even today face similar dangers in daily life. I have always believed that you should not stop living because of fear of dying.

Of course, I don't believe in taking foolish risks. I try to be prepared to face dangers and minimize risk. But I am not going to be housebound due to fear of getting a respiratory illness. Ebola was much more deadly than this one. Back in the 80's AIDS was also very very deadly. We had SARS, MERS, polio, whooping cough, H1N1 as well as yearly changing flu variants. Take sensible precautions and you will be fine.

If you hit the worst case, you went out with a bang doing what you wanted... living life to the max... and not out with a whimper.

I have had the pleasure of voyaging many times on small cargo ships , this of course was some time ago before the advent of container ships. There is no way I would go anywhere near one of these so called ''Cruise Ships''.Unfortunately they visit our port ,the passengers stagger ashore ,clad in their newly purchased leisure wear ,over weight ,they dont spend any money whilst ashore .....why would they when all the food and drink is available on board? I am so glad to see them go .
As a matter of interest when I found out a week or so ago the the ship pictured ,the Arcadia was coming I asked my local Member of Parliament what I thought was a reasonable question. ''Will the passengers and crew be screened for the corona virus?'' Guess what,no answer !

Many moons ago, I had a poke around on this boat here just after it had come off shakedown; a colleague of mine was connected with it's owners and arranged it for myself and a pal (ex Royal Navy ship commander, retired for MS) to spend a day poking around on it before it was brought in to service.
Impressive bit of work, but when the Captain said its passenger complement (it's been refitted since and carries more) that was the exact moment I realised that going on a cruise was not for me.

My wife and I love cruising and have a cruise booked next year from Dubai to Rome through the Suez. There is a chance that we will cancel but only because of lack of finances. The Aussie dollar and our Super has taken a real hit lately and probably won't recover enough for us to be able to afford it.

I've seen things like that in town, sometimes there can be five or six of these things in at once; a small one like this is in the order of 2,700 folk (more than my village!), and the passengers pore out like ants. Sadly it's all too easy to tell what's coming in, as the bigger the boat the more of the local pickpocket community will be around where all the passengers will be dumped.
