I like this image shot in France but something about this image missing, maybe it's the washed out sky, ideally this would have been much lower warmer sun.

Aye, blown sky, folliage entering the shot. A little more care in the timing and composition needed. I tend to avoid shooting into the sun which helps not blow out the sky and wash the colour out the scene.

Because I know the area well - I know there is a lot better scenes also to shoot than this too.

Because I know the area well - I know there is a lot better scenes also to shoot than this too.
The foliage was intentional, gives you the feeling of discovery when you walk up a hill.. :)

I agree with what you were trying to do with the foliage but it looks more accidental here. If you had zoomed out and included more of it, then it would frame the scene better. The image could also use a little more contrast and I personally would have bracketed this shot and blended the shots together.

I do like the scene however. That town gives a great sense of scale to the mountains and the "god rays" are a nice touch to the scene.

I agree on the contrast, I think this is as far as I could push it without it looking like it had been put through a metal crusher. Thanks for the words.
