Kestrel

My Favourite. Alas in decline in the UK, but such a beautiful bird.

Photos taken at The Botanical Gardens of Wales. (Thus netting)

But they fly free at exhibitions..

:D

Another cool shot. Numbers are rising in my part of the UK and we are very lucky to have some wild ones that are so used to people you can get inside a couple of meters from them.

Talking of birds flying free at shows.A few years back is was with my kids watching the bird show at Whipsnade Zoo. The wild lesser black backed gulls were attacking almost ever bird that came on show and the falconers were getting very frustrated. The lovely female peregrine came out and instantly a full swooped on here the first flight. She was having none of it and in a few seconds she was a few hundred feet up. The look on the falconers face as the peregrine swooped down smacking the bull, more than twice her size, on the noggin as speed was quite one to remember. As the now dead full hit the ground with a splat children and adults in the audience were crying, in shock, angry or like me, in awe. While I thought it amazing some went and complained to the falconers and the zoo office. Some wrote on the usual websites of their disgust. Seems the natural world is too harsh for some snowflakes these days. My kids loved it though so a; good.

With a little PhotoShoping, I can loose the netting, but the image then becomes a little ghostly. Preferable or not??

Or I can replace the null background with a little bit of cloudy sky...

I quite like the last one..

Any comments...:)

Botanical Gardens of Wales. They have a bird centre there, £1 to look at the birds in the pens, same birds do a flying display for £3, and if you want one on your wrist its a tenner. My grandson & I spent £4 each, and had a superb few hours. Money very well spent..:))

Nice set of photos. You need to somehow blend the kestrel into the clouds better.
