These arrived on my lawn to eat the ants, then a 3rd gave out the alarm and they froze instantly and stayed that way for a full 15 minutes. I guess a Bird of Prey was around, either Buzzard or a Sparrow Hawk that visits often. It was late afternoon and the sun was behind the trees so challenging light conditions. I dropped the speed to 1/800 with lens wide open at F6.3 at the full 600mm which pushed auto iso to 8000. PP with Topaz Denoise and 50% crop.

Wouldn't have known you were at such a high ISO. Topaz works pretty well for these scenes. Nice work especially considering the challenging conditions.

Gorgeous birds. May I ask what country you live, what species of woodpecker, and what camera, and lens?

Great catch, and to see two...
I can see a radio controlled raptor might help for bird studies in the future :)
