Thanks Roger. They can flap their wings 80-250 per second. Some photographers prefer 1/800 to get some motion blur on the wings.Very nice, Mike. I'm surprised that 1/2000th stopped the wings.
No just a shutter speed of 1/2000. The iridescence is from the sunrise behind me. The change is the angle of the light can produce some spectacular colour effects and changes. Was that with flash Mike?
Thanks Tony. I took these in Trinidad last month. The hummingbirds are weary of the wasps. Apparently a sting from the wasp can kill it!Fabulous Mike
Really like the way you've captured two bugs as well (second flower down on left) need to zoom in.
Where was this taken ?
Yep...fondly remember having breakfast on the deck @ Englishman's Bay, and they whizz past just centimetres away, chasing each other! They zoom around incredibly fast. My daughter and I were in the center of them and could hear a their continuous hum...then the occasional zoooom as one zooms past!
