This is an image I took on a short trip to Sedona, AZ. a few years ago.
This is Cathedral Rock on the right, Courthouse Butte on the left.
We took our Grand Daughter camping for the first time.
This is about 1-1/2 hour drive from our front door.

3 hours to airport
2 hours waiting for flight
8 hours flight time
1 hour to get through customs
1 hour to sort out hire car
2 hours to drive to sedona

I make that minimum of 17 hours .....

The light was amazing this day, Scattered rain, scattered clouds.
We were there camping for the weekend with my granddaughter.

This is really a magical place, if you ask some, it is a place of Vortex for the spirit minded.
My wife & I have talked about retiring here. We have our dreams....

I have one I took back in 2009 when I was first learning photography. Likely the same area as your image above, different spot on Oak Creek.
I have not been back for several years now. It's about time to go back again and revisit some of these iconic views.
Maybe even re-shoot this old image. definitely needs re-done.

We are in a state of....Flux?
My wife and I have not been locked down at all, just inconvenienced. We are considered "Essential Workers" (Sounds Dystopian).
I'm in Infrastructure, she in Finance.
We have a few Trips planned for this year, Colorado in May, Glacier National Park in June, maybe Oregon and Idaho.

There are many businesses that are still closed down, many / most will never open again.
Estimates are 60% of businesses whose doors are still closed will never reopen. Terribly Tragic. Likely 40% of all small businesses are gone.
We are free to travel. Since the Vaccine has come out, they are talking about requiring certification of vaccination for international travel, not for domestic.

The lock downs are governed by the state, then county, and city. The rules vary as you go from place to place.
I was in Colorado in January and everything was closed, I mean everything. While Arizona was basically open. Makes no sense.
It is quite Bizarre. Arizona, Texas, and Florida is pretty wide open. Texas, and Florida have removed all mandates from the public including masks.

When I'm asked how things are here in my life? I tell them "Everything is the same for me, except everything around me has changed"
It's a strange world right now.

Thx Marc, I just kind of ended up here. I grew up in Southern California 12 miles from Huntington Beach.
Off to Florida for a decade, and now The Desert. No coastlines here. But what a place to be if you like exploration.

When it would rain, it would deluge.

Beautiful shots. Lived there for a year (Prescott, AZ). Some of those giant cactus bushes can make great props for shooting.

Thank you Sundar. Prescott is a hop, skip, and jump from Sedona. My brother and family are there.
We have plenty of those cacti around here, a variety of plants that HURT.

My favorite state is Arizona, and near the top of my places to go to is Sedona. These pics are making my heart ache to get back there. The next time I will be spending more time in the Sedona area to cover more photo spots like you have posted. Thanks SC.

So what is the story there across the pond? Are you folks still in lockdowns?

Yes we are still in lockdown, next monday we can meet up outside in groups of 6.
Non essential shops can open next month.
And pubs and hotels can open in May

we have now given the vaccine to 50% and all adults should be done by July
This is for England, Wales Northern Ireland and Scotland have different agendas
