They are OK ,no venom , but they can bite . It would not attack me ,I'm quite happy to have them around.As with all snakes in Australia they are a protected species

very cool. I guess you need to be able to ID all the species over there! We only have the adder that has venom here.

Where I live there are only two to be aware of Tiger Snake and Dugite .

very cool. I guess you need to be able to ID all the species over there! We only have the adder that has venom here.
A little bit off-topic ... I don't remember exactly, but memory says that Aus has 11 of the world's 12 most venomous snakes. Luckily for us people, most are only found in very isolated outback areas. Toxicity of snakes is measured against the Indian Cobra, which is given a value of one

Most Aussie venomous snakes rate between 15 and 75 on this toxicity scale, with the American rattler (that we read so much about) given a value of 1/4
ps- I did a post here about 6-7 months ago showing some of the Aussie snakes along with their toxicity numbers
