Xmas Eve brought fog to my little county. Luckily I had a late start at work so managed a walk for an hour at sunrise and grabbed a couple of shots. Cloud inversions are my favourite weather conditions. To just sit and watch in peace and quiet is ace. I'm not sure the photos I took really do it justice but here's a couple anyway.

Cracking shots Jason.
I'd never have known that was a composite had you not said Paul.

Nice. It’s a pity the sun disappeared before the fog thinned a bit but your edit helps fix it.

Love the 2nd, I'm currently travelling to work in Derbyshire from W Yorks and have seen these cloud inversions but neither have the time or gear with me to shoot them, these are great! Would try and lose the 60's style housing in the bottom if possible if any critique e.g. old fat houses, barns etc.

I really like two - although I can see a wider crop in that losing some of the brighter parts of the sky.

Thats amazing, when you say a composite you mean two photos right? how do you get the two to merge, is it with masking in layers? I'm not that techno or photoshop experienced sorry if that is dumb question

Cheers. I struggled with the crop tbh. Always felt I was chopping something, a tree or building etc, in half however I cropped it.

It’s Paul’s Photoshop wizardry that did the edit so hopefully he’ll help you out with that one. @rebel06

I’d have layer masked and soft-edged brush to blend if I’d thought of it first! :D

Ok.
First i extended the bottom of the first image to accommodate, then I copy and pasted the second image in and aligned it at the bottom.
Next added a layer mask to this image and used a soft edged black brush to remove the unwanted top half of this in the mask.
Hope you can follow what I'm saying
Paul

First of all - Jason, these are really good images simply because the instill a calmness (which sometimes we all need now and then).

Well I can certainly follow your quick tut Paul (and I did - and got similar results). Thanks for sharing that info, I'm sure @Melnie Mouse will be encouraged to give it a try.
